Crib Bumper Pads…should I buy them?

 This is a very personal decision. Contrary to popular belief they are not a banned product mainly because there are still a lot of people who prefer to use them and feel they really need them. At Sweet Kyla we offer all of our bedding sets with or without bumpers…it’s your choice…. you can even purchase them at a later time if you have a very active baby.

 

You definitely do not need bumpers for newborns and you should not use them when baby is old enough to stand up in the crib… but the timeline in between depends on how active of a sleeper your baby is. Every baby sleeps different!

 

Here are some facts that we have gathered: 

  • Pillow-like soft bumpers are a definite no-no at any time
  • Choose a firm bumper pad with ties both on the top and bottom
  • Always fasten all the ties securely whenever baby is in the crib
  • Remove bumper pads when baby can stand in the crib
  • Always practice safe sleeping rules as outlined by the Juvenile Products Manufacturer’s Association
